This chapter will introduce the functional sections of the Time Machine main window, presented in both video and text formats.

The main feature bottons and Time display

The top section of the main window features five core modules, accessible via a horizontal menu: Layer, Online Atlas, My Atlas, Cross-database Search, and Multi-Globe View.

Layer and Plate Models

Layer: Manage the visibility, order, and style of geological and paleogeographic data layers. Plate Model: Load and apply plate tectonic reconstruction models to visualize continental movement through time.

Time Slider and Time Window

Time Slider: Control the current geological time by dragging the slider to explore reconstructions across different periods. Time Window: Define the visible time range for time-dependent data by selecting intervals on the Geologic Time Scale.

Time Console

Precisely input or animate geological time to supplement the Time Slider and Time Window functions.

Information Viewer

Display attribute details and visual styles of selected features and layers on the globe.
